Beltane, or May Day, has a dual significance to the Wheel of Life in most temperate climates. For those who till the fields, it is the time when seeds planted at Ostara are sprouting and the fields are turning green. And to those who keep livestock, it is the beginning of mating season for many species, and of the birth of young for others. As a result, in ancient times it was usually the main fertility festival of the year.

The Beltane Fire Ritual requires preparation. In the weeks before the Sabbat, you’ll go on a pilgrimage to spend some quiet time in nature; and to maybe collect a few things to decorate your altar.

You’ll need to purchase the supplies for performing the “Image of Your Goal” spell. I personally find it easier to purchase items when I know what they look like and can get an idea of what to look for. With that in mind, I’ve listed most of the supplies you’ll need below.

But first, I want to show you some of the great things I found on Etsy specifically for Beltane.

Beltane Pillar Candle

This is so beautiful and looks just like a maypole.

Beltane Coloring Page

Although not exactly like the guided meditation in the Beltane Fire ritual, this is quite recognizable.

Herb & Flowers Smudge Sticks

Celebrate Beltane with summer-inspired herb and flower smudges. I’m not sure which one is my favorite.
